Raid Night Results for May 4th & Special Guest Appearance
We had a special guest last night at card night. "Skip a Turn" Randy showed up from Amarillo to raid with us! Randy was a part of the Original WoW TCG Group 13 years ago before moving away for his career. We call him "Skip a Turn" because he has a weird way of always getting targeted by skip a turn effects. I mean, it happens enough that he earned a nickname haha!
Last night, we raided Caverns of Time and Battle of the Aspects (twice). We had four players for all 3 raids and in an unusual turn of events, we lost 2 out of 3. We were on the verge of victory with Caverns of Time, with Red Dragonkin just sweeping the bosses aside, but hit Mal'Ganis and Archimond as the last two Raid Heroes. Mal' Ganis's entrance effect AOE'ed the board for 6 damage and then Archimond's entrance effect destroyed the remaining friendly allies left. One of the following Archimond's flipped cards was Howl of Asgalor, so we were not allowed to play abilities, this made it not possible to heal. With Archimond's flipped allies and his attack, Friendly heroes were destroyed rather quickly ending our attempted to conquer Caverns of Time. And guess what... Randy had to skip his turn on the Aeonis entrance effect ROFL!
We moved onto Deathwing in the Battle of the Aspects. We allowed Deathwing to start at level 2, and with the right flips, he needed that attempt within turn 3. We unfortunately, were caught by a blistering tentacle with too many lava spawns in play. Our healer was marked and killed before anything could be done. We just reset and started a new game, again at stage 2. Game 2 was sketchy too, our control mage almost died after another blistering tentacle drop and was left with 1 hit point. However, the healer this time was able to recover the team's hit points, and the players proceeded to overtake the level 2 Deathwing with a victory.
Usually, a team of 4 with our group can easily overtake theses automated raids. But with the right card flips, we were overwhelmed unexpectedly. The card flips were harsh on us this night, but that's why this game is so awesome. You can be great team players and still lose to unforeseen situations.
