Operation Good Cause is a thematic tournament event helping support Toys for Tots charity and to honor Veterans Day.
This event will be focused on thematic armies, giving players an opportunity to try out forces they wouldn’t usually get a chance to use at other organized tournaments.

All lists must be submitted as an EasyArmy or Warlord App PDF (please have national and special rules on them). Please contact TO for any issues.
Players must bring at least one paper copies of their list so they may be able to exchange with their opponents (and may ask for it back at the end of the game).
Credit to Chicago Dice, DLS Wargaming and English Open 2025 for the basis of this event pack.
This event is meant to showcase Bolt Action as a historically plausible wargaming system. When writing your list, please consider the ‘theme’ of your force and should be representative of specific nations, time, and fronts (be it TOE, a specific battle or unit, etc.). Works of fiction can also be used as the basis of a theme. Some research may be necessary. You may find it useful to refer to campaign books and theatre selectors from v2 (found on easyarmy.com) to help when deciding on your list composition.
When you submit your list, please title it accordingly – for example: John Diggs - Battle of France German Pioniere or Bob Bates - Operation Husky US Army Armored Infantry TOE.
Point Limit: 1250
Dice Limit: 16
The event will be played under all v3 published rules & FAQ/Errata at the date of list submission (Nov 1st, 2026).
TOs reserve the right to deny lists and ask players to resubmit, in cases of inappropriate lists, rules oversight that would cause serious imbalance, resulting in a list not in keeping with the spirit of the event or is “un-sporting”. Please contact TO if you have any list questions. This may include, but not limited to:
Leadership Standard - Commanders must be taken veterancy equal to or above the majority of the units in their platoon.
Inclusion of an Inexp. Indirect Fire weapon when the rest of the force is Reg. and/or Vet.
Inclusion of an Inexp. Transport/Tow when the rest of the force is Reg. and/or Vet.
Unit spam (Flamethrowers, Howitzers, etc.).
Please note that an inclusion of any of the above is not immediate grounds for force list denial. It will depend on the rest of the list composition and theme. Even a themed list could be considered “Comp”.
To encourage and keeping to the spirit of thematically looking tables, a fully painted force is worth an additional 1 Event Point. Players that bring a thematic write up of their force (no more than two pages, to include images) is worth an additional 1 Event Point.
This is a rough outline of the timetable for the day. Please treat as approximations and for some deviation.
Arrival: 10:00-10:30*
Announcements/Game Prep: 10:30-11:00
Game #1: 11:00-1:30
Lunch Break: 1:30-2:15*
Game #2: 2:15-4:45
Break: 4:45-5:00
Game #3: 5:00-7:30
Awards/Debrief: 7:30-
* Players may submit their forces for Best Painted during this time.
If there is an equal balance, TOs will do the best they can to divide players into Allies and Axis and pair players based on nation/theater, otherwise table placement will be random.
The event will be three rounds.
The mission pack will be published after the list submission deadline on Nov 1st, 2026 to allow players to familiarize themselves with the missions in use and any special rules.
“Last Turn” will be called 15 minutes before the end of the game. Players should finish the turn they are on and not start a new turn.
When “Time” is called, no further order dice will be pulled from the bag. Players should then complete any rolls/resolve any actions for the order die and end the game.
In the event of a concession, the player that did not concede will be awarded a Victory and assumed to have claimed all of their opponent’s Order Dice. The conceding player will be awarded a Defeat, and assumed to have claimed no Order Dice – this is regardless of the situation on the tabletop at the point of concession.
All applicable minis should be on appropriate size bases.
While the game of Bolt Action is a “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG) game, and we encourage models to be modeled accurately, minor proxying may be allowed. Please contact the TO for guidance if your force contains a proxy. Exceptions may be allowed for, but not limited to:
Minor variation/option differences
Pintle MGs but not used
Vehicle frame antennas
Proxying must be explicitly clear to the opponent and that there is no like models with option differences to cause confusion.
Tables will be pre-set, please do not move terrain. If terrain has been accidentally moved, please let the TO know to readjust it. Each table will have a printout of terrain on each table, and if any additional rules.
We operate on the assumption that all players are good sports. Players must first try and handle disagreements themselves. Players should only call upon a TO in disputes only when both players are unable to reach an agreement. A TO ruling is final.
If opponents turn out to be less than good sports, players need to report it to the TO’s, using the following categories and examples as a guideline. Keep in mind; everyone gets a little salty now and then, forgets (or misplaces) their tape measure once in a while, temporarily forgets how a rule works, or changes their mind about a decision, etc. In all cases, the TO’s will decide whether to issue a warning, deduction of Event Points or ejection depending on severity.
Salty Attitude: Complain a lot. Constantly ask to see or look up rules - even for basic things. Act put-out if you ask to see their rules. Do not communicate intentions or establish agreement with regard to movement, line of sight, etc. Are impatient, dismissive, curt, etc.; sore losers or ungracious winners.
Unprepared for Play: Show up very late. Haven’t read the tournament rules. Haven’t read the mission description. Don’t have the majority of the things needed to play the game (have to borrow a lot).
Incompetent Play: Unable to execute the core rules of the game without frequent referencing, coaching or calling of a TO. Spend inordinate time looking things up (i.e. do not have materials prepared, marked, or printed for quick reference).
Questionable Play: Not quite cheating, but not aboveboard either. Including but not limited to ‘generous’ measurements or movement, frequently taking back movement, other decisions after they are in process, not clearly distinguishing between similar units, not keeping track of scoring, abuse ‘playing by intent’ by failing to establish what their intent is, but taking advantage of what it ‘could have been’.
Slow Play: Slow play and constant indecision. Intentional slow play to “run out the clock” will be considered unsportsmanlike conduct/cheating and grounds for ejection.
Questionable Dice Rolling: Dice should be rolled in a manner that is reasonably visible for a player to examine. (ex. Do not roll dice into a box that an opponent cannot see into without having to lean across or move around the entire table, and undisturbed reasonably long enough to be examined.)
Unsportsmanlike conduct (such as, but not limited to, cheating, obscene or vulgar behavior, communication or clothing) will not be tolerated and will lead to an ejection being issued.
Note on laser pointers and pre-measuring: Using laser pointers to determine Line of Sight is not considered pre-measuring. Players are allowed to use laser pointers to check LoS at any time. Any player using a laser pointer is expected to allow their opponent to use it as well.
1st, 2nd, 3rd
Best Painted
Best Sportsmanship

There will be enough prizes for every participant. Prizes will be done via random draw.
Best Painted:
Best Painted will be determined by at least two judges, which will include TOs and/or Store Manager/Staff. Players that wish to submit Best Painted may do so by informing the TOs and setting up their force during the specified times. A force must be completely painted and based to be considered for submission. Players must include a placard with their name and name of their force.
Judges will then score based on, including, but not limited to:
Basic Standard & Preparation
Technique & Execution
Cohesion & Uniformity
Basing
Thematic Accuracy
A note on display boards – Display Boards are not required and no display board points will be awarded. Maximum display board dimensions are 36″x24″. Armies may be displayed directly onto tables (do not move terrain) in one of the 36”x24” table quarters.
